One more day, and then ten of us from Utah County are off to the land of the rising sun! Since I consider Japan to be my other "home" it feels good to be going back. I know for a lot of my students this will be the first time really outside of the country (does Canada count anyways?) so I imagine they are feeling nervous, excited, and jittery all at once. I am excited to share this experience with them, as they learn from first-hand experience a totally different culture. As my students know I like to say it's a better culture in many ways :), but what I really want them to see is that although different, it is at least equal to their own, and they can learn a lot from experiencing it.
Open your eyes, mind and heart, seito shokun!
